Ik heb deelgenomen aan de 1ste 'bookmark swap' bij Penpalling & Letters en dit is wat ik gekregen heb. Ik heb nog nooit zo'n grappige bladwijzer gezien, echt tof.

I joined the 1st bookmark swap on Penpalling & Letters and this is what I received. I never saw such a funny bookmark before, I love it.

 De oude, compleet ommuurde vestingstad van Dubrovnik staat op de Werelderfgoedlijst van de UNESCO.

 The old, completely walled in city of Dubrovnik can be found on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

Karlovac is gekend voor de vele parken en vier rivieren die de stad doorkruisen. De stad is gesticht als een fort in de vorm van een zespuntige ster in de tweede helft van de 16de eeuw.

Karlovac is known for its many parcs and four rivers that flow through the town. It was founded as a six-pointed star fortress in the second half of the 16th century.

Rab is een eiland en een stad vlak voor de kust van Kroatië in de Adriatische Zee. Het eiland is rijk aan cultureel erfgoed en cultuur-historische monumenten.

Rab is an island in Croatia and a town of the same name located just off the northern Croatian coast in the Adriatic Sea. The island is rich in cultural heritage and cultural-historical monuments.

Sri Mahamariamman Hindu Temple in Kuala Lumpur

De Sri Mahamariamman Tempel is de oudste en rijkste Hindu tempel in Kuala Lumpur. Gesticht in 1873, ligt de tempel aan de rand van Chinatown in Jalan Bandar (vroeger High Street). Vanaf de opening was de tempel een belangrijke plaats om te bidden voor de vroege Indiaase immigranten en tegenwoordig ook belangrijk cultureel en nationaal erfgoed.

The Sri Mahamariamman Temple is the oldest and richest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur. Founded in 1873, it is situated at edge of Chinatown in Jalan Bandar (formerly High Street). From its inception, the temple provided an important place of worship for early Indian immigrants and is now an important cultural and national heritage.

Writing postcards to and receiving postcards from children

Deze keer niet van Taiwan, maar van Slovenië. Kinderen iets leren via postkaartjes is een geweldig idee en ik wil altijd helpen wanneer ik dat kan. Deze mooie viewkaart komt van de 10 jaar oude Tim.

This time not from Taiwan, but from Slovenia. Teaching children something through postcards is a great idea and I'm always ready to help when I can. This nice viewcard is sent by the 10 year old Tim.

Beauty and the Beast

Zoals de meeste van mijn vrienden al weten, Belle en het Beest is my favoriete Disney classic. Tot nu toe heb ik maar twee kaartjes ontvangen van deze film.

As most of my friends already know, Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney classic. So far, I received only two cards from this film.

Trinity College

The Long Room, Trinity College, Dublin

De grote zaal van de Oude Bibliotheek, de 'Long Room', is bijna 65 meter lang en bevat ongeveer 200.000 van de oudste boeken van de bibliotheek. In 1860 is het dak verhoogd om de constructie toe te laten van het huidige tonvormige plafond en galerij met boekenrekken. Marmeren bustes staan aan elke kant van de kamer welke ook de oudste, nog intacte harp in Ierland bevat.  

The main chamber of the Old Library, the Long Room, is nearly 65 metres in length, and houses around 200.000 of the Library's oldest books. In 1860 the roof was raised to allow the construction of the present barrel-vaulted ceiling and gallery bookcases. Marble busts are placed down either side of the room which also contains the oldest surviving harp in Ireland.
